Over the Labor Day weekend, we made a trip up north to see Mackinac Island, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We stayed at an Airbnb in a seemingly unknown town of Bliss, which is about 20 minutes from Mackinaw City. The experience turned out to be a great one, and we learned a thing or two about the town. Mackinac Island

We made the trip to Mackinac Island during the Labor Day weekend. It was our first time at the Island, and we loved it. Getting there – we boarded a ferry, and took our bicycles with us. You pay $30 per adult, and $15 per bike. Didn’t have to pay for Oliver’s ticket since he is under 4. We did StarLine as opposed to more popular Shepler’s. Also, we paid $15 for dock side parking. …

Castle Rock

Stopped by the Castle Rock on the way back from Soo Locks. To get to the top of Castle Rock be ready to climb 171 steps, and it is a STEEP climb. Trust me by the time you will get there, you will be out of breath. The view from the top is amazing. Entry fee is $1 but free if you have the Michigan Recreation Pass. Soo Locks

We went to Soo Locks during the Labor Day weekend. Soo Locks are a set of parallel locks in upper peninsula that enable ships to travel between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes (Wiki). It was fun to watch large freighters pass through the locks on their journey to/from Lake Superior. This was our first time at Soo Locks, and first time in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A Day Trip to Port Austin

Just randomly the Chauhan household minus the dogs decided to make a day trip to Port Austin, and The Thumb area of Michigan. If you don’t know what The Thumb is check this out.
