Samsung Odyssey G9 49″ Monitor macOS Settings

I picked up this monster size monitor a year ago. It is truly ginormous and gives me plenty of screen real estate. I had it hooked up to my MacBook and everything worked perfectly fine until I upgraded macOS to Ventura and lost the Scaling option under display settings. After that, the display was all messed up, and I spent a lot of time searching on the internet what to do here. If you landed …

Enterprise Complexity / Ambiguity

I came across this visual just recently, and it has quickly become my favorite visual to depict organizational complexity and ambiguity. If you are like many of us, who have had to deal with that, then you know the countless hours spent debating about things. Everyone has their interpretation, and everyone has their opinions. Then one fine day someone says enough, and decides to dig deeper to really find out what the truth is. They …

Thinking and Doing

Steve Jobs on the intersection of thinking and doing: “My observation is that the doers are the major thinkers. The people that really create the things that change this industry are both the thinker and doer in one person. And if we really go back and we examine, you know, did Leonardo have a guy off to the side that was thinking five years out in the future what he would paint or the technology he …

2022 Reading Challenge

My 2022 reading challenge was 10 books. I ended 2022 with whopping 12 books read, that’s 120% of the goal and 1 book every month. I definitely over performed in 2022, maybe I set the goal too low, while I thought I had a stretch goal, considering in 2021 I only achieved 75% of my goal (6 out of 8 books). Last year I wrote that I was glad to have made it to 75% …

Data Recovery (macOS)

This is a quick reference of different data recovery software (macOS). I had to use these after I accidentally deleted quite a lot of photos on my external drive. Many of the photos were from our recent India trip incl. birthday celebration for Oliver, and site-seeing (Jaipur, Delhi). Needless to say it was quite a debacle to have lost those photos. Most software allow you to see file names, sizes, timestamps of recovered files, and …

How did Will Power win 2022 IndyCar Championship

If you are like me who was still left with questions yesterday on how Will Power eventually ended up winning the 2022 IndyCar Championship, then I have some answers for you. Why is that even a question, you might ask, after all Will Power did drive superbly over the season. He did indeed, but with only 1 win out of 17 races, it rather looks quite odd, and especially that the most number of race …

Bliss, Michigan

Over the Labor Day weekend, we made a trip up north to see Mackinac Island, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We stayed at an Airbnb in a seemingly unknown town of Bliss, which is about 20 minutes from Mackinaw City. The experience turned out to be a great one, and we learned a thing or two about the town. The town of Bliss probably has a hundred or so people who live there. There is a …

Mackinac Island

We made the trip to Mackinac Island during the Labor Day weekend. It was our first time at the Island, and we loved it. Getting there – we boarded a ferry, and took our bicycles with us. You pay $30 per adult, and $15 per bike. Didn’t have to pay for Oliver’s ticket since he is under 4. We did StarLine as opposed to more popular Shepler’s. Also, we paid $15 for dock side parking. …
