Castle Rock

Stopped by the Castle Rock on the way back from Soo Locks. To get to the top of Castle Rock be ready to climb 171 steps, and it is a STEEP climb. Trust me by the time you will get there, you will be out of breath. The view from the top is amazing. Entry fee is $1 but free if you have the Michigan Recreation Pass. You just need to show them a photo …

Soo Locks

We went to Soo Locks during the Labor Day weekend. Soo Locks are a set of parallel locks in upper peninsula that enable ships to travel between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes (Wiki). It was fun to watch large freighters pass through the locks on their journey to/from Lake Superior. This was our first time at Soo Locks, and first time in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It was definitely worth seeing, and we’ll come …

Dresser Makeover

Before Our dresser as shown above in the photos went through a major makeover. This was always the plan, when we bought this used dresser off Craigslist. The original tan color was all worn out, and had marks all over. Worse thing is that the drawers were in horrible shape, with the old fashioned rails which were broken and would sag if drawn out. When Oliver started messing with these drawers, I knew it was …

Move from Plex to Apple Music

Over the weekend I decided to try out Apple Music. We’re invested in Apple ecosystem – have 2 Apple TVs, both wife and I have iPhones, and Apple Watches. I own MacBook Air, and a Mac Pro, and recently we bought a HomePod mini getting rid of all Alexa’s. With the HomePod mini, received a 6 month trial of Apple Music so decided it is time to try. Wife had already been trialing Apple Music, …

Port Austin is about 2 hour drive from Chesterfield, and the drive is mostly Hwy 53 with some gorgeous country side views. Along the way there were lots and lots of agricultural flat fields which makes sense considering this region has …

Every Little Bit Matters

Many a times we believe there is a secret special sauce to being a leader, and to motivate people. Reality is that, there is no single sauce. In fact, there are many tiny droplets of flavor into play, and that many of those we already know/do. Take for example, a simple gesture of saying good morning to your team every single day, either in-person or on your company’s instant messaging tool. That simple gesture goes …

2021 Reading Challenge

My 2021 reading challenge was 8 books. I ended 2021 with only 6 books read, that’s 75% of the goal and 1 book every 2 months. I seem to have failed in my challenge and for sure I would be considered one of the slowest readers out there. However, 2021 was also one of the toughest years. While for the records, pandemic was still ongoing, which adds to stress in itself. My family in India …
